Is your technology driving you mad over March Madness? I’ve rounded up a list of tech innovations that are coming in the near future that should help make your life easier. Some of these are more down-to-earth and will be available soon, and some are a bit more ‘out there’!
1. Touch Sensitive Jacket
The usefulness of this first one is debatable, but there’s no denying that the integration of technology into everyday objects is interesting.
Levis has used a special touch-sensitive thread developed by Google to create an app-controlling jacket. Swipe or tap special areas on the jacket to control apps such as making phone calls or listening to music.
At $350 this isn’t exactly an impulse buy, but if you’re on the bleeding edge it may be for you.
2. 10th Anniversary iPhone
It’s been 10 years since the first iPhone was released and it’s now impossible to imagine life without the touch-screen device that we all carry around in our pockets.
It’s becoming difficult to innovate with cell phones, but Apple will certainly be trying. Expected features include edge-to-edge screen, wireless charging, a 5.8″ OLED screen and a rumored price tag of over $1000.
3. Sunscreen in a pill
Research is currently underway into creating a sunscreen that can be taken orally. No more will you have to worry about re-applying your sunscreen after a swim, you’ll be able to just pop a pill.
The drug, which is based on a tropical fern, has reportedly reduced sun damage by up to 84% in tests. While the study was small, these are very positive results.
4. Android based laptop
It’s no secret that desktop and cell phone operating systems are slowly merging. Apple is pushing it’s iPad Pro as a desktop replacement and Windows 10 has both desktop and mobile modes.
Google is about to join in with a laptop computer that runs Android. The operating system, which is called Andromeda, will combine Google’s Chrome and Android operating systems. According to reports the OS will feature both a laptop and tablet mode, similar to Microsoft’s Surface line of computers.
5. A Wireless Charging Room
Wireless charging is clearly the next thing. As mentioned above, it’s expected to be a feature of the new iPhone, but current technology still requires the phone to be placed onto a charging device.
Well, scientists at Disney have created a whole room that acts as a wireless charging device. The so called “three dimensional charging experience” works by just being in the room, and it can charge up to 10 devices at once!
